If the version numbers are not correct then repeat the steps. Use the NVDATA program to set the serial eeprom. This will (1) test the chip, (2) write the seeprom and (3) indicate that the data has been written. This program should automatically flash up to four cards in the system. Rebooting the system is necessary for the 2x320 to use the new data. ************************************************************************* Detailed instructions to update the 2x320 Host Adaptor Board ************************************************************************* Create a diskette with all the files in the root directory. These programs can only run from DOS - DO NOT USE A 'DOS WINDOW' FROM WITHIN WINDOWS. It is easiest to use a bootable disk and copy the required files to it. Otherwise, you will need to use a boot disk to start the system and then swap in the 'release disk'. Use the 'Install.bat' file to automatically start the appropriate programs, example: a:>Install or type Flsh1030 The Flsh1030 program should start automatically and asks you to select a chip. Note: only one chip of each card needs to be updated. You should see 2 chips to choose from if a single 2x320 is installed in the system. Select either chip. You will now see the banner, "LSI Logic Corporation SYMC1030 Flash Utility". The version should be, "FLASH1030-1.00.11.00 (2.20.2002)". Consider this the 'Main Menu'. Select option 'd' - Erase Flash. This will erase the entire chip. Once erased, the card will not be usable until new firmware is loaded. Hit any key to return to the main menu. Select option 'b' - Download Flash. You now have the opportunity to download either the Firmware or BIOS. Download the Firmware first - option 'a', file 'fbxio016.bin' or 'fbxim016.bin'. When complete, download the BIOS - option 'b', file 'mptps.rom' or 'mptpsim.rom'. Return to the Main Menu to verify the version numbers. Use option 'a', the 'Identify' option. Select option 'a' to verify that the Firmware, the display should contain the message, "MPTFW-00.01.06.00". Return to the Identify option, and select option 'c' - "INT 13 BIOS.....". The display should contain the message, "MPTBIOS-5.01.02.00". If either message is not correct you need to re-flash that data. If you need to flash additional cards, return to the Main Menu and select option 'z' to select a different adaptor. Exit the Flsh1030.exe program. At this point you will see the message*, "Do you want to run NVDATA [Y/N]?". You have 60 seconds to make a choice, otherwise the operation will be cancelled. If you select the yes option the nvdata 'image' file will automatically be written to the card. After the Nvdata image file is written the system must be rebooted. This completes the update. *NOTE: some systems may not display the, "Do you want to run NVDATA [Y/N]?" message correctly. If you do not get the message, type 'run_nv' to start the batch file.
